2008 marked the beginning of a new era in the long history associated with the name Edstein Creative Stone.

On the 17th of March 2008 Paul and Jennifer Gray of Marquis Bathroom products at Nelson Bay reached an agreement to purchase the business following a period when Edstein Creative Stone was associated briefly with the Barnsley Joinery Group of Companies.

Paul and Jennifer Gray, with over 30 years experience in the joinery industry have brought a fresh engaging approach to the future of Edstein Creative Stone. The Marquis Company specialises in bathroom products and is a testimony to Paul and Jennifer's Vision of shrewd investment in the best technology. The Marquis brand is well known and the company continues to prosper in the face of a building downturn and increased pressure from imported products.

The history of the Edstein name

The Company history dates back to 1896 and continues right through to the present day. Today the company bears little resemblance to the small family run monumental masonry company that commenced in 1896. You will find we have retained many of the skills and  traditional values and gained valuable experience along the way. The result is  quality and pride in workmanship that continues today.

Edstein Creative Stone employs staff between two outlets, one in Taree the other in Sandgate (Newcastle) The company recognize that the loyalty and dedication of the staff as a valuable asset and a major factor in making the business the success it is today.  These two outlets service the area south of Coffs Harbour, and north of Sydney, reaching out to the western tablelands.

Further development is underway within the business , the future looks bright for this company with a long history in the Australian stone industry.

Factory and Showroom

Edstein Creative Stone have two outlets in NSW, Taree on the Midnorth Coast and Sandgate in Newcastle.
The head office and processing factory is situated in Taree where the majority of the work is manufactured. This production facility then ships the finished article to the desired destination where installation teams are strategically located to carry out our efficient installation service.

The main sales outlet is in Newcastle, on the Wallsend Road, Sandgate. It is well worth a visit to see our extensive showroom, with a variety of Kitchen Bench Tops & Bathroom products on show for customers to make selections or just gather inspiration. The Sandgate showroom is looked upon as a colour selection centre.

The redevelopment in 2007 of the Sandgate Showroom has been a great success, raising the presence of Edstein Creative Stone as a selection centre of choice, utilised by leading Architects and Designers. The expansion of the Taree showroom is planned for the near future. This will give the North Coast region access to the same excellent stone selection facilities, as now available from the Sandgate showroom.

The Latest Technology

Edstein Creative Stone has sourced the latest technology from all around the world to ensure control and consistency of the product we supply to our large base of customers throughout NSW.

The production, planning and organisation is controlled with a software package sourced from the USA. It is incredibly effective and makes our service very efficient. It connects our staff in the field to our production office. They carry electronic measuring machines that can take measurements accurate to 0.5mm. These devices create an electronic drawing of the bench top etc. and then send it via wireless internet access to the CAD Production team in the office, who can then prepare the job for computerised manufacture.

The Production Process

The production and administration systems employed by Edstein Creative Stone are unique in Australia and meet world class standards for the production of high quality stone products.
The process begins when the clients select their material.
The components are cut to size on a nested based sawing system, then processed through the CNC controlled machines
including:

• surface polishing
• edge profiling
• machine joints
• cut outs etc.
• engraving

The finished product is fully fitted together and QA checked prior to shipping to ensure the highest quality product is supplied everytime.
