Q: Why are granites different prices?
A: Price depends primarily on the degree of difficulty in quarrying. For example Blue Pearl is the most expensive as only about 20% of the quarried material is suitable for domestic use.Q: What are the benefits of using granite?
A: Granite is a product of nature and has a beauty not seen in made products. It is a solid surface which requires little maintenance. Matching granite splashbacks provide a stunning appearance. Granite maximises the impact a kitchen has in the home.Q: How do I maintain the granite?
A: A chamois used daily keeps the granite sparkling.Q: What is the difference between one granite company and another?
A: ECS has the most modern factory and machinery in Australia. The process of precise template production on every piece and little work on site ensures the finest fabrication and little dust. Our competitors usually cut the material oversize and then grind the backs to get them to fit thus filling the house and the kitchen with dust. They also apply the edge treatment with hand grinders which compares very poorly with our Computerised Edge Polishing Machines.Q: Do I need to select my slabs or are the samples accurate enough?
A: The samples provided by ECS are consistent with the material which is continually available. Being a product of nature differences in colour and grain do occur. Our experience has shown that 99% of people are happy to choose from samples however the showroom at CDK and Amalgamated is available if required.Q: Can you speed up the ten day manufacture period?
A: No. The process requires this much time. Our competitors take three weeks or more. It is essential that the owner is present at the check measure. As we have invested heavily in technology our lead time is kept to a minimum. Occasionally the lead time will increase with material breakage, delivery delays in shipping or machinery breakdowns. This is, however, very rare.Q: Will the granite stain?
A: With rings left on the bench for an extended time from red wine, oil, curry powder, etc, the granite will sometimes absorb the substance. After a time regular cleaning the substance usually comes out.Q: Will the granite chip?
A: With normal use no. Any product will scratch if abused with other than kitchen utensils.Q: Is Marble an appropriate product for kitchen benchtops?
A: No. We recommend marble is used for bathrooms only. Notwithstanding this we have installed many marble benchtops and providing the user is aware of the porous nature of the product its use is acceptable.Q: Can a hot saucepan be placed directly on the granite?
A: Although in 99% of cases this will not cause problems we do not recommend it.Q: What cleaning products are available?
A: ECS provides a daily cleanser and a sealer/polish with every job along with a brochure explaining their use. The most successful method is to wipe with a chamois once per day.IMPORTANT NOTE : GRANITE IS A "NO FUSS" PRODUCT
